Kenyan artisans create this beloved scene by carving soft soapstone. The holy family, three kings, shepherds, and three animals are carefully tucked into a small arched cove. The soft contrast between natural and dyed soapstone lends a lovely serenity to the work, which is enhanced by the pleasant feel of the textured stone. The nativity is available in two sizes. The small one measures about 3.75 inches in width, and the slightly larger one runs about an inch wider at 4.75 inches. These authentic African crafts are imported by Swahili African Modern, a member of the Fair Trade Federation, an association committed to providing fair wages to their artisan workers and creating products from sustainable materials.
